1. Characteristics
Iron oxide pigments are resistant to strong light, atmospheric influences, and pollutant gases (such as hydrogen sulfide). They also have excellent alkali resistance, rust resistance, and corrosion resistance. They offer decorative and visual appeal, strong hiding power, and high tinting strength.

2. Applications
Suitable for coloring and protecting various paints and coatings, such as alkyd resins, aminoalkyd resins, perchloroethylene resins, polyurethane, nitrocellulose, and polyester paints. Furthermore, they are suitable for electrophoretic paints, low-pressure paints, enamel paints, pencil paints, blended paints, baking varnishes, rust-proof paints, floor paints, and waterline paints. They can also be used in water-based paints, powder coatings, and plastic coatings. They are also used in toy paints, decorative paints, furniture paints, house paints, garage paints, parking lot paints, and roof paints.
Iron oxide pigments offer excellent weather resistance, high purity, thermal stability, good compatibility with other components in the application system, UV absorption, and protection against base degradation. They are also cost-effective and are widely used in paints and coatings. Due to their strong hiding power, strong UV resistance, and low water absorption, they enhance the mechanical strength of paint films, particularly their excellent adhesion properties. When mixed with other anti-rust pigments, such as red lead and zinc yellow, they can enhance the stability and mechanical strength of the paint film. It is now widely used in various outdoor coatings, road marking paints, metal anti-rust primers, and topcoats. Iron oxide pigments used in coatings and paints include iron red, iron yellow, iron brown, iron black, iron green, mica iron oxide, and transparent iron oxide products. Iron red is the most widely used, while transparent iron oxide is most suitable for automotive topcoats, wood coatings, oil paints, can coatings, and medical packaging coloring.

3. Usage
Generally, the process involves three steps: wetting, grinding, and dispersing (paint mixing). Iron oxide pigment, paint, and filler are mixed evenly in a mixing tank to form a coarse paste. Depending on the viscosity of the solvent added, different grinding equipment is used. For example, a thick paste can be fined or thinned using a three-roll mill. The paste can be ground using a high-efficiency sand mill (vertical or horizontal) or a ball mill. Primer fineness is generally around 50 microns, while topcoat fineness is around 40 microns. Resin, dry materials, and solvent are then added to the paint mixing tank for paint dispersion, color matching, and viscosity adjustment. Finally, the finished product is filtered and packaged.
