Iron Oxide for Ferrite Magnetic Materials

2020-12-03 14:05:01
1. Characteristics
High chemical purity, fine and uniform particles, spherical structure, large specific surface area (generally around 10-15 m2/g), preferably honeycomb crystal form, strong chemical activity, perfect solid-phase reaction, and low chemical impurities and soluble salts. It can be used to form composite oxides with one or more other metal oxides, hydroxides, carbonates, or oxalates via solid-phase reaction to form ferrite magnetic materials.

2. Applications
Iron oxide can be combined with various other metal oxides and reacted under different reaction conditions to produce different crystal structures to suit various application requirements. These include soft magnetic ferrite products, permanent magnetic ferrite products, gyromagnetic ferrite products, short magnetic ferrite products, and piezomagnetic ferrite products.
Iron oxide is used in the electronics industry. Iron oxide powder is fine and uniform, with a large specific surface area of 10-15 square meters per gram and strong chemical activity. It is a key raw material for ferrite magnetic materials. Ferrites, formed by combining iron oxide with metal elements such as manganese, zinc, nickel, and magnesium, have a spinel crystal structure and are widely used in various magnets and microwaves. Magnetic iron oxide powders exhibit excellent chemical and thermal stability, as well as excellent properties such as coercivity and magnetic tape loops. They are widely used in various types of magnetic tapes, computers, memory materials, magnetic plastics, and magnetic powders for flaw detection. Y-Fe:03, an iron oxide with a spinel needle-shaped crystal structure and submicron particle size, is an excellent material for the manufacture of audio and video tapes. Because of its needle-shaped particles, it achieves better orientation when a magnetic field is applied during the coating process, making it a key ingredient in magnetic recording materials. It can be used in recording and video tapes, instrument tapes, other applications such as magnetic plastics, television tuning center pole pieces, convergence plates, and surface flaw detection on steel parts. Currently, domestically produced varieties include spherical magnetic powder for flaw detection, high-efficiency magnetic powder for magnetic plastics, needle-shaped magnetic powder for recording tapes, cobalt-doped magnetic powder for video tapes, and micro-particle magnetic powder for instrument measurement tapes.

3. Usage
Combine iron oxide and one or more other metal oxides, hydroxides, carbonates, oxalates, etc. in a ball mill according to a specific ratio, grind the mixture into a fine powder, remove from the mill, dry, and then heat in a high-temperature furnace at 700-900°C. The powder is pre-sintered at 100°C, then ground into a fine powder and placed in a press mill for forming. The powder is then sintered at 1100-1400°C and heat-treated. After fine processing, it becomes a ferrite product.
